Rules & Regulations at Monongahela Cemetery
Permitted
- Annual plants within an area, 12-inches wide, at the head of the grave or in front of the marker.
- The grave may be decorated with artificial or cut flowers placed in an approved container.
- Solar lights.
- March 1 - 15: all winter decorations will be removed to permit spring planting.
- Summer flowers March 16 through October 14.
- October 1 – 15: all summer decorations will be removed to permit holiday decorating.
- Seasonal decorations November 1 through February 28.
Prohibited
- DOGS
- FIRES!!!
- Borders
- Trees, shrubs, bushes.
- Homemade grave markers.
- Decorative chips, brick or slab edging, rubber edging.
- Grave blankets or tarps.
- Items that pose a hazard during mowing and weed whacking, such as glass or metal, candles, fencing, shredded mulch, rubber mulch, stone chips, and statues
- FEEDING wildlife (geese and deer). Don’t do it! It is bad for the animals and our grounds.
These restrictions are necessary to prevent injury to visitors and cemetery personnel and to prevent damage to equipment.
